What happens when one political tribe makes an obvious fact unspeakable and the other tells that truth only to attach a much larger lie? Using the public reactions to the allegations surrounding Cambridge professor Jason Arday and the Lindsay Clancy case, this episode examines the disappearance of the informed middle. The Regressive Left increasingly treats identity as innocence, turning scrutiny into persecution and compassion into exemption from agency. The Right then identifies the madness, earns the listener’s trust and uses one legitimate truth to smuggle in caricature, collective guilt and contempt. This is not a call to split the difference. It is a defense of proportion: conclusions should remain the same size as the evidence, facts should remain particular and people should be allowed to remain human.
